If you are going to use your computer on the Internet or use email buy virus protection. It is not a matter of if you will get a computer virus; it is a matter of when. The average cost of yearly virus protection is around $100.00. It will cost you more than that to take your infected computer in and have it corrected. The cost and age of your computer has very little to do with it. A new computer has just as good a chance of getting a virus as an old one without virus protection. Also you will need to keep your virus protection program up to date. Be smart and protect your identity and your investment.
